As a Regional MSP for Lothian since 2016, Miles has established a reputation as a hard-working, high-profile, campaigning Parliamentarian. He has helped thousands of constituents with individual problems and has given his backing to dozens of the area's businesses and charities.
Boundary changes for the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections now see East Lothian move into the new Lothian Region. It is essential that the Scottish Conservatives build on our support if we are to grow the number of MSPs we return from the Region and build a stronger base for the party across the area.
Communities across East Lothian face many critical challenges from the increased pressures which expanding communities bring to local schools and GP surgeries and the wider local infrastructure. Miles has long been an advocate for changes to better fund NHS Lothian, which currently receives the lowest level of funding per head of population from SNP Ministers.
Miles is a seasoned and enthusiastic campaigner who can motivate local members and supporters and help ensure the Scottish Conservatives are competitive in the East Lothian Coast and Lammermuirs constituency.
Miles is in no doubt as to the challenges facing the party at the current time and that we need to work to secure the support of voters here, in what should be a key three-way marginal seat. At the last Scottish Parliament elections, it was thanks to pro-UK voters lending the Scottish Conservatives their support that we prevented the SNP winning a majority - we need to make sure we can rebuild that coalition of voters again next May.
