Speaking during today’s East Lothian Council Cabinet Meeting, Deputy Leader Councillor Michael Veitch said:
“The stricter regulation of wind turbines is a key commitment contained within the Administration’s Council Plan. I am therefore very pleased that this paper proposes that the Council’s Planning Guidance for Lowland Wind Turbines - as modified by incorporating our Supplementary Landscape Capacity Study for Smaller Wind Turbines – be adopted as Council planning policy and that it will constitute a material consideration in determining planning applications for lowland turbines in East Lothian. This was a process started by the previous administration in late 2010, for which I commend them.
“In terms of the consultation, I note that comments on the changes have been ‘overwhelmingly supportive of the Council’s position’ although it’s disappointing to see there were no responses from the renewable industry itself. I also strongly welcome the fact that the guidance will be incorporated into East Lothian’s Local Development Plan.”
