Speaking at today’s planning committee, Dunbar & East Linton councillor Michael Veitch said:
“Our Supplementary Landscape Capacity Study states that the land on which the turbines are to be located cannot accommodate ANY turbines of this sort. While I understand that the applicant has sought to mitigate this by putting the turbines in holes, and therefore – as the paper states – to reduce the “perceived” height, the turbines are still – according to my reading – outside the scope of the study.
“At a time when there is significant pressure from the Scottish Government to substantially increase the number of wind turbines, it could be argued that it is deeply unwise for a Local Authority to be arguing against itself when it comes to their own policy on turbines. I would urge members of the committee to consider this...and would respectfully ask that they reject the recommendation before us today.”
