Writing in the East Lothian Courier, Association Chairman Tim Jackson, welcomes the decision to extend the life of Torness Power Station.
"The decision to extend the life of Torness Power Station until at least 2030 is excellent news for its 550 full-time specialist employees and the 180 full time contract partners, as well as for consumers in two million homes, the local economy, the environment and Scotland generally.
"While onshore wind farms do have a place as part of a balanced energy approach, they have been proved to be intermittent, unreliable and expensive. Crucially they have driven up energy bills for consumers.
"The Scottish Greens have condemned the decision but overlook the fact that well over 5,000 onshore wind turbines are needed to produce the same output as one nuclear power station.
"Futhermore, a nuclear power station is operational for up to 60 years (extendable to over 100 years) as opposed to the estimated 20-year life span for wind turbines.
"The Scottish Conservatives will keep making the case for nuclear energy investment as a reliable, low-carbon source as part of a mixed approach energy supply."
