East Lothian Conservatives held their Annual General Meeting in Dirleton Kirk Hall last week and were delighted to welcome Gavin Brown, a List MSP for Lothian and currently Conservative Finance Spokesman at Holyrood, as guest speaker at the conclusion of the formal business. Gavin gave an interesting insight into how everything the Scottish Government says or does is viewed through the prism of separation and admitted that all parties were guilty of taking their eye off the ball on governing. He commented, ‘We don’t have government; we have a campaign in government. We have to win the referendum handsomely so that we can put separation to bed for a generation.’ There were no changes in the Association office bearers with Robin Salvesen elected to serve another term as Chairman, Tim Jackson as Deputy Chairman, Colin Stewart and Scott Douglas as Vice chairmen and Organising Secretary, Kathryn Smith as interim Treasurer.
