Today (30th April) East Lothian Council Transport spokesman Cllr Michael Veitch hosted the second meeting of the East Lothian Bus Forum at Council headquarters in Haddington. Attendees included representatives of all the County’s main bus operators, community councils, RELBUS, SESTran and Council officers.
A number of issues were discussed including improved bus-rail connectivity, real-time information, improving timetable information at bus stops and the development of an East Lothian bus charter. The forum was then addressed by Iain Gray MSP, who spoke about his plans for a private member’s bill on buses.
Cllr Veitch said: “I was delighted to welcome so many people to our second meeting of the bus forum. We were able to update those present on the work the Council is doing in areas such as better timetable information at bus stops and improvements to Council-supported bus services. I am also grateful to Iain Gray for agreeing to come and speak to the forum about his proposals for a private member’s bill on buses, which generated some interesting discussion.”
