Last Thursday (2nd May) East Lothian Council Transport Spokesman, Councillor Michael Veitch, met with Mr Tim Hedley-Jones, Stations and Property Director at East Coast Trains, at Dunbar Station. They discussed a number of issues including service patterns, pedestrian access to the station and car parking.
Speaking after the meeting Cllr Veitch said:
“I am extremely grateful to Mr Hedley-Jones for taking the time to come to Dunbar. East Coast Trains do an excellent job in managing in Dunbar Station and I am delighted by their ongoing commitment to the town.
“We discussed a number of important issues, including how best to achieve the much needed expansion of the car park and to improve pedestrian access. I also emphasised the desirability of securing an additional morning peak service from Dunbar to Edinburgh as well as more direct services between Dunbar and London Kings Cross.
“Mr Hedley Jones was also very enthusiastic about providing signage and other information about John Muir at the station, in anticipation of the opening of the John Muir Trail - which will start in Dunbar - in 2014.”
