East Lothian Conservatives hosted a Councillors’ Lunch at The Rocks in Dunbar on Saturday.
Councillor Michael Veitch, leader of the Conservative group on East Lothian Council, addressed the meeting, noting that it had been almost two years since the new Labour/Conservative/Independent administration had been formed. Cllr Veitch reminded everyone that the Conservatives were elected on a mandate to maximise efficiencies, which should be a priority at any time but is a necessity in the current financial climate. He also highlighted the work of the Conservatives in the Council Administration including a presumption against larger wind farms, a new campaign to dual the A1 and work to improve local bus services and car parking. Noting that the next council elections are only three years away, he emphasised his hope that the Conservatives could increase their representation on the Council and thereby deliver more for the county.
