Councillor Michael Veitch has welcomed experimental speed limits throughout East Linton.
Cllr. Veitch, councillor for Dunbar and East Linton, was quoted in the following East Lothian Courier article:
"A new 20mph speed limit is to be introduced throughout East Linton following a public petition supporting the restrictions.
"The experimental speed limits will cover the vast majority of the village, with only roads heading out of the community excluded.
"The move, which comes after East Lothian Council introduced a number of trial 20mph zones in residential areas in Dunbar, Cockenzie and Tranent, has been welcomed by Dunbar and East Linton councillor Michael Veitch.
"He said: "I believe that East Linton lends itself perfectly to the introduction of a 20mph speed limit.
""Dunpender Community Council is to be congratulated for conducting the petition, which revealed a high level of public support for this project and led to it being taken forward by East Lothian Council."
"The restriction will stretch to all public roads within the village with the exception of Haddington Road and Station Road from the A199 to Bridge End B1377, the B1377 Bridge End to A199 at Phantassie, the B1377 Drylaw Terrace northwards and the B1407 Preston Road eastwards.
"The trial was one of a number of road changes and restrictions approved by the council's cabinet this week.
"In North Berwick, the 40mph limit west of the Ferrygate development will be extended by 165 metres, and the former B1347 Haddington Road is to be stopped up with plans to realign the new replacement road of the same name.
"The council also approved plans to shut off the U230 Ugston Road at Gateside Commerce Park development from the A199 Haddington bypass, Haddington southward."
